Fatigue Module

Elastoplastic low-cycle fatigue (LCF) analysis of a cylinder with a hole. The last of three load cycles is used for the fatigue analysis to make sure that the state is representative of repeated loadings. Three different fatigue models are compared in this tutorial.

Performing structural fatigue life computations in the COMSOL Multiphysics environment is done with the Fatigue Module. Available as an add-on to the Structural Mechanics Module, both high-cycle and low-cycle fatigue methods are available. For high-cycle, or stress-based fatigue, the Fatigue Module provides Findley, Matake, and Normal stress methods.
