Floating Network License (FNL) for
COMSOL Multiphysics software allows for
unlimited use of CPU cores, cluster nodes,
and simultaneous simulation of designs
(see Figure 4).

      By default, when the COMSOL®
software is started on a multicore-parallel
workstation or PC, all available cores
are used to parallelize the computations
by means of the shared memory
approach. When solving a simulation on
a workstation or a cluster, the user can
control how the parallelization is applied.
It is easy to choose whether the simulation
is run in the distributed memory mode, in
the shared memory mode, or in the hybrid
mode. Therefore, larger simulations can
be computed in the same amount of time
or a fixed-size simulation can be sped up,
helping to increase productivity. v
